Terry White on the CFExpressPro+ PCIe
Posted on 11:13 by Unknown
In this world of Faster, Faster, Faster, the Synchrotech ExpressCard Reader ($65) will become a permanent addition to my camera/computer bag. If you have a notebook with an ExpressCard slot, I highly recommend this reader. It kicks the crap out of USB 2.0 readers.
Pretty glowing reviews, and with pre-UDMA enabled CompactFlash cards at that. Initial review: True Express Card PCIe Speed for Photographers. Second look: What a difference a card makes.

Alternatives for the ADP-MULTI5-PC
Posted on 13:53 by Unknown
Unfortunately the latest batch of ICs (integrated circuits) for the ADP-MULTI5-PC were bad, and we cannot manufacture more until we have good ICs. We are looking at probably late-October before we are able to ship the ADP-MULTI5-PC. Alternatively we have two different products that might be suitable alternatives.
For 32-bit CardBus capable PC Card slots, we have the ADP-MULTI5-PC32. It supports the exact same memory cards as the ADP-MULTI5-PC and allows for faster data transfer.
For 16-bit PC Card slots we also carry the ADP-MULTI6-PC. This device is based on an older design and doesn't support the newer SDHC and SD Card 2.0 standards. If you are using the older style SD Cards, or any of the other cards it supports, you should be fine.
Our MotionFlash32 USB 2.0 based reader also handles SDHC (SD 2.0).

September is Photography Accessory Sale Month at Synchrotech!
Posted on 14:11 by Unknown
Celebrating digital photography in the month of September; Synchrotech has three very special offers on essential accessories for mobile photographers needing fast transfers to their notebook computers.
For ExpressCard 34 and ExpressCard 54 equipped notebooks, our CFExpressPro ExpressCard to CompactFlash Memory Card Adapter is just $35 after a 17% discount. The CFExpressPro supports PIO though Mode 6 and UDMA through Mode 4 CompactFlash. This high performance device is perfect for photographers wanting to quickly download contents of their CompactFlash memory cards when on the road. The CFExpressPro has been a top seller with MacBook Pro users, and is a favorite item for many traveling photographers. This special price of $35 for the CFExpressPro expires 09/30/2007.
Not forgetting photographers with notebooks from the PC Card slot era, Synchrotech is offering our PC CardBus Type II to CompactFlash Type II for just $26 after a 19% discount. Taking advantage of 32-bit CardBus PC Card slots, the ADP-CF2-PC32 handles PIO though Mode 6 and UDMA through Mode 4 CompactFlash cards like Sandisk's Extreme III line. This special price of $26 for the CFExpressPro expires 09/30/2007.
Of course not all digital cameras use CompactFlash memory cards. For that reason we are also offering our ExpressCard 34 to Multiple Memory Card Adapter for just $35 after a 17% discount. The EXP34-ADP-MUL5-01 supports a whole range of modern memory cards including: SDHC (SD Card 2.0) and SD Card, xD Picture Cards (including Type M and H), MultiMediaCard and MultiMediaCard+ 4.0, Memory Stick and Memory Stick Pro. This high performance device allows mobile users to quickly download photos off their memory cards to their ExpressCard equipped notebook when traveling. This special price of $35 for the EXP34-ADP-MUL5-01 expires 09/30/2007.

Synchrotech Now Offering Two FireWire 800 Repeater Hubs
Posted on 10:40 by Unknown
In response to the surging demand for FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b) products, Synchrotech is now carrying two high quality FireWire repeater hubs. These performance oriented FireWire 800 repeater hubs offer unique capabilities and meet port capacity requirements for a range of FireWire 800 users.
The first, the NitroAV 8 Port Repeater Hub, is a rugged, robust, and very high performance FireWire 800 repeater hub with a generous array of 8 FireWire 800 ports. NitroAV comes with a power supply and also supports alternate power connections for rack-mount applications. It's metal casing is ideal for studio and production environments.
For less demanding or portable applications, Unibrain's FireRepeater 800 FireWire IEEE 1394b Repeater Hub is a lightweight 3 Port hub. FireRepeater 800 works out of the box with FireWire 800 bus power applications, or usable with purchase of an optional power supply.
Both FireWire 800 Repeater hubs are usable in FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b) and FireWire 400 (IEEE 1394a/iLink) work-flows. See our FireWire 400 and FireWire 800 Cables and IEEE 1394 Connectors page for appropriate cables and converters to mix and match existing FireWire products. Repeater hubs provide bus flexibility in that they allow for daisy chaining and/or hierarchical (tree) bus configurations. Repeater hubs also provide a means to lengthen the distance between devices when 1394's cable length of 4.5 meters is inadequate. Simply daisy chain repeaters between cables to extend your reach to 110m.

Wireless Gateway/Routers for WWAN 3G/4G to WiFi/Ethernet Networks
Posted on 15:06 by Unknown
Wireless gateway/routers then provide an internet connection (WAN) to individual computers or local are networks (LAN) via WiFi (802.11*) or wired Ethernet just as a gateway or router plugged into DSL, T-1, or other wired WAN options do. Share a single mobile (cellular) broadband data account throughout a household, business or branch office. Connect existing wired networks to wireless gateway/router, or take advantage of built in WiFi to enable roaming connections. Perfect for rural locations, wireless gateway/routers provide a cost effective and easy to administer solution for broadband connectivity. Synchrotech has created a compatibility matrix to aid in determining wireless gateway/router compatibility with individual mobile (cellular) broadband data networking devices.
DuelAdapter Unsupported Systems List
Posted on 10:21 by Unknown
Synchrotech has obtained a more comprehensive list of systems with ExpressCard firmware issues and are known not to work with the DuelAdapter. Some other ExpressCard equipped computers may also have compatibility issues, this list is by no means comprehensive. This list of unsupported systems represents a very small fraction of ExpressCard capable computers, most systems on the market work exceedingly well with the DuelAdapter.
