FireNEX COAX S800 75ohm COAX BNC FireWire 800 IEEE1394b Repeater Kit

Posted on 12:23 by Unknown

FireNEX COAX S800 75ohm COAX BNC FireWire 800 IEEE1394b Repeater KitThe FireNEX-COAX-S800 uses flexible coaxial cabling to provide reliable FireWire 800 transmission up to 60 meters (196 feet). There are several advantages in using a standard 75 Ohm coax cable, like wide availability, excellent EMC performance, low cost connections, enabling of terminations by end users, and the possibility of using existing cabling infrastructure. Since each FireNEX-COAX-S800 repeater has two IEEE 1394b FireWire 800 ports it can also be used as a hub for daisy chain connections.

A FireNEX-COAX-S800 set includes two FireNEX COAX S800 75ohm COAX BNC FireWire 800 IEEE1394b repeaters and a manual. An available DC power jack lets you connect an optional power supply (purchased separately), such as the FIRENEX-POWER. COAX cable and FireWire/IEEE1394b cables are not included. The repeaters feature industrial standard screw locking for 1394b ports.

New and improved: USB 2.0 Hub 12+1 Port with 2.1A iCharge Port Powered with Power Supply

Posted on 15:57 by Unknown

USB 2.0 Hub 12+1 Port with 2.1A iCharge Port Powered with Power SupplyTired of wrangling multiple USB 2.0 hubs? Synchrotech's 12+1 Port USB 2.0 Hub with 2.1A iCharge Port provides host computers with 12+1 additional USB ports and allows flexible tiered USB configurations with a single hub! This robust and inexpensive hub runs in self powered mode and provides over current protection at each of its downstream ports. Fully USB 2.0 compliant and USB 1.1 backward compatible, it supports low, full, and high speed USB devices and works with any system that supports the USB specification. Providing thirteen downstream ports, this hub features plug and play installation and transparent operation. This hub is fully backward compatible with USB 1.1 and will work with systems and devices using the slower standard. It comes with a free power supply with a generous 4 ampere capacity, and USB 2.0 cable to connect to a host computer.

The new model of this hub trades one data port for a high-current capacity 'iCharge" port for devices requiring 2.1 Amperes to charge, like the iPad®. The charging port is not a data port and does not allow syncing or any other functionality other than device charging. However, this lack of data transfer on the iCharge port does have a distinct advantage—the hub doesn't need to be connected to a computer in order to charge a device. The other 12 ports allow for syncing and other standard USB 2.0 operations for connected devices.

Addressing a Common FireWire Repeater Port Count Question

Posted on 15:01 by Unknown
> What we would like is the:
> FW8-FIO-UB4PRH Unibrain FireRepeater-800 Pro FireWire 800 IEEE 1394b
> Repeater Hub 4 Port
> Assuming (all ports a bi-directional) as we would like 4 output
> devices feeding into
> 1 input device.

Unibrain FireRepeater-800 Pro FireWire 800 IEEE 1394b Repeater Hub 4 Port
Since FireWire is a true peer-to-peer technology, unlike say, the prosaic USB standard, terminology for FireWire repeaters and hubs is a little different. Typically the count on a FireWire repeater hub is the total available ports, since the host computer is considered just another peer level device. In other words, plugging a computer into the FW8-FIO-UB4PRH leaves three available ports left. If you have 5 total devices to connect (including a computer), then you could deploy two of the repeater hubs in conjunction with each other. The following schematic illustrates one such configuration with FW8R1 and FW8R2 representing separate FW8-FIO-UB4PRH units.

FW8R1
-----
HOST --- = p1 |
| p2 = --- DEVICE FW8R2
| p3 = --- DEVICE -----
| p4 = ------------ = p1 |
----- | p2 = --- DEVICE
| p3 = --- DEVICE
| p4 = --- DEVICE

Glass Optical Fiber Repeater 800

Posted on 15:11 by Unknown
Glass Optical Fiber Repeater 800The Glass Optical Fiber Repeater 800™ provides the most reliable and straight forward solution applications requiring long FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b) cable runs. Available with either LC or MT-RJ connectors, the GOF Repeater extends FireWire 800 signals up to 550 meters over standard glass optical fiber cables. No need for daisy chains of repeaters and long cables, each Glass Optical Fiber Repeater-800™ provides two FireWire 800 bilingual copper ports and one optical port.

GOFR 800™ is an excellent solution for many situations requiring long distance FireWire 800 or FireWire 400 applications. Unibrain has tested and recommended the following over distances of up to 550 meters: FireWire cameras, DV Camcorder, Hard Drive storage, and high performance networking. Glass Optical Fiber Repeater 800™ utilizes the Texas Instruments TSB81BA3D, and is constructed from heavy duty, coated galvanized steel.

FireRepeater 800 Pro
Originally uploaded by Synchrotech
Unibrain's 4 Port Repeater Hub provides port expansion on FireWire® 800 IEEE 1394b device chains. Oriented towards industrial and machine vision applications, FireRepeater-800 PRO™ provides the ability to connect up to four FireWire 1394b devices and it's metallic compact case minimizes the risk of physical damage. The platform agnostic device provides four 9 pin (bilingual) IEEE 1394b ports with a maximum throughput of up to 800 Mbps each. The Hub utilizes IEEE 1394b bus power, or accepts an optional power adapter for use with devices requiring more power. Repeater hubs provide bus flexibility in that they allow for daisy chaining and/or hierarchical (tree) bus configurations. Repeater hubs also provide a means to lengthen the distance between devices when 1394's cable length of 4.5 meters (15 feet) is inadequate. Simply daisy chain repeaters between cables to extend your reach to 110m. FireRepeater 800 Pro incorporates locking 9 pin bilingual ports, multiple mounting points and an optional metal bracket to ensure an even more secure physical connection.

Synchrotech Now Offering Two FireWire 800 Repeater Hubs

Posted on 10:40 by Unknown
In response to the surging demand for FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b) products, Synchrotech is now carrying two high quality FireWire repeater hubs. These performance oriented FireWire 800 repeater hubs offer unique capabilities and meet port capacity requirements for a range of FireWire 800 users.

FireWire 800 Repeater HubThe first, the NitroAV 8 Port Repeater Hub, is a rugged, robust, and very high performance FireWire 800 repeater hub with a generous array of 8 FireWire 800 ports. NitroAV comes with a power supply and also supports alternate power connections for rack-mount applications. It's metal casing is ideal for studio and production environments.

FireWire 800 Repeater HubFor less demanding or portable applications, Unibrain's FireRepeater 800 FireWire IEEE 1394b Repeater Hub is a lightweight 3 Port hub. FireRepeater 800 works out of the box with FireWire 800 bus power applications, or usable with purchase of an optional power supply.

Both FireWire 800 Repeater hubs are usable in FireWire 800 (IEEE 1394b) and FireWire 400 (IEEE 1394a/iLink) work-flows. See our FireWire 400 and FireWire 800 Cables and IEEE 1394 Connectors page for appropriate cables and converters to mix and match existing FireWire products. Repeater hubs provide bus flexibility in that they allow for daisy chaining and/or hierarchical (tree) bus configurations. Repeater hubs also provide a means to lengthen the distance between devices when 1394's cable length of 4.5 meters is inadequate. Simply daisy chain repeaters between cables to extend your reach to 110m.
